if you can, please join me in supporting someone standing up against the use of ed tech surveillance software. it's important.

they're now fighting a lawsuit intended solely to shut them up.

Absolutely - I donated earlier tonight and spread it on the birbsite. It's ridiculous software, ridiculous that academic institutions license it, ridiculous that professors think it's a good idea to use it, and terrible that the company filed a SLAPP lawsuit to prevent people from learning how invasive and intrusive their software is.

@dbs it just really pisses me off, you know?

thanks for sharing! hope you're doing okay :)

re: libraries, surveillance, privacy, higher ed, $$ ask

@anelki Are you directly involved with this?

Messaging needs a lot of help.

A SHORT (80 chars max, many sites trrim/disallow longer) title, and hashtag (say: FightProctoriosSLAPP) would help a lot.

Submitting the primary document "Statement to Media" to sites (many of which require / strongly encourage original titles) ... has no context appeal.

Consider:

Statement Concerning Proctorio surveillance software SLAPP

  • 58 chars
  • Describes situation, party, and action
  • Leaves room for more detail

Also: drop the CW. It hides your evangelising.

Market your cause effectively.
