I use Discord because it is not at all problematic at the moment, but I encourage people to use alternatives like Matrix chat, partly because they are open and partly because it's always good to be prepared in any case.
@tildeverse on the other hand, you're telling developers who are already doing stuff in their free time, for free, for others to further inconvenience themselves by using possibly clunky solutions for basic communication

@tildeverse this is just a type of gate keeping... you'd be limiting open source contributions and participation to people who use FLOSS platforms, almost all of which are either archaic, hard to use or not widely used.
so, i don't see a problem in USING them, as long as there is a FLOSS alternative, preferably with a bridge connection between both.
